Details
Technology Support: The Computer Help Desk (x6400) and the Telecom and Media Support departments (x6500), both located on the ground floor of Jepson Hall, are your primary sources of support for assistance with anything related to technology. Current contact information and details can be viewed on SpiderTechNet.
Activate Account: Your network account will need to be activated in order to access network resources
Computer Access: All full-time employees are provided a primary computer for work
Network Access: There are several WiFi networks available on campus to address different needs
- urwin is the primary network for connecting computers, tablets, and phones. Your University computer will be configured to automatically join the urwin network with the pre-requisite software. Review the instructions linked below for how to connect your tablet, phone, or personal computer.
- Richmond is available for devices like Smart TVs, game consoles, Amazon Echoes, or any device that is unable to connect to urwin and is primarily used by students for those purposes
- VisitUR is an open network available for campus visitors but restricts access to secure campus resources like Blackboard or Banner
- VPN: VPN access is available to access on-campus only resources from off campus from your computer, phone, or tablet
Email: Faculty and Staff email services are hosted by Microsoft Exchange and can be accessed at https://outlook.office.com/
Office Phone: Your desk phone supports the flexibility of checking your voicemail from off campus or forwarding calls to your cellphone
Duo: Duo multifactor secure authentication is required when signing in to certain resources from off-campus, including: Bannerweb and VPN
Box: Box is an encrypted, cloud-based file storage and collaboration platform that enables faculty, staff and students to securely store and share electronic business and academic files.
Office 365: While the Microsoft Office suite is pre-installed on your computer, you can also install Office on your personal devices - up to 5 desktops/laptops, 5 tablets, and 5 smartphones
Zoom: Zoom is a conferencing tool that offers video, audio, and screen-sharing capabilities across multiple platforms
