Opt-in for Duo Multifactor Authentication (MFA) for Email

Duo Multifactor Authentication (MFA) is a strong security control that reduces the likelihood of credential theft through phishing and other cyber attacks by 99.9%.  Opting-in to Duo MFA for email is a best practice to protect your identity and sensitive information.  Please review the Duo Service page for more information about using Duo with supported University applications.

Follow the below steps to opt-in to Duo MFA for Email

1.  With your web browser, go to the Duo Device Management Opt-in Portal.  If you have already enrolled with Duo for your network account, please proceed to step 2 (below).  If you have not enrolled in the Duo service, you will be asked to enroll in Duo.  Refer to the SpiderTechNet article "How to Enroll in Duo" for detailed instructions on how to do this.  
2.  Authenticate using your University of Richmond NETID and password and select "Log In".
3.  Read the instructions on the Duo Device Management Portal MFA Opt-in Portal and select the Opt-in button.
4.  Congratulations, you are now enrolled in Duo MFA for email.  Refer to the SpiderTechNet article "How to Login to Email with Duo" for detailed instructions on accessing your email with Duo MFA enabled.  Please allow at least 30 minutes for the change to update for your account.  Some devices may take longer than others depending on their connectivity status.  

Issues and Questions

If you are already enrolled in Duo MFA for email and attempt opt-in, you will be notified that you are already opted-in to Duo MFA for email as in the image below.  If this occurs and you have not been receiving Duo prompts for access to email, or if you experience any other issue with the opt-in process, please Report a Problem or call the Help Desk at 804-287-6400.
