Duo Push for Multifactor Authentication (MFA) is a convenient and secure method to authenticate your access to applications secured by Duo. As with any access control, you must use it responsibly and carefully review each Duo Push. If you did not take an action to request a Duo Push or you do not recognize the location where the Push is originating from, always deny the request. If in doubt, deny!
Duo Push Fatigue is an increasingly common tactic used by bad actors to attempt to trick users into bypassing MFA controls. This is where the bad actor sends many Duo requests to a user in the attempt to have them approve a request to make them stop. Do not fall victim to this tactic! If you think you may be being targeted by a Duo Push Fatigue attack contact the Help Desk at 804-287-6400 to report the occurrence.
2. Within several seconds, you should receive a Duo Push prompt on your device. If you have notifications enabled, this notification prompt will appear on your device home screen. If you do not have notifications enabled, you will need to open the Duo Mobile application to review and acknowledge the Push.
If you need assistance with device notifications, please contact the Help Desk at 804-287-6400.
NOTE: Make sure you validate the location from which the Duo authentication request is originating. If you do not recognize the location or did not initiate the Push, always choose DENY. If you have any doubts, select DENY and contact the Help Desk at 804-287-6400 to report the occurrence.
