Description
Clearpass OnGuard is a University provided software that ensures your computer can join the UR network by verifying security settings such as the current firewall, OS update, and antivirus status. All computers that are connected to the network will be required to have the ClearPass OnGuard software agent installed on the machine before it will be allowed access to the network. Individuals with a Linux computer should contact the Help Desk to get the computer registered on the network.
Phones, tablets, gaming consoles, Chromebooks, and other similar devices do not require an agent at this time.

Installation Instructions
Students, Faculty, and Staff who are using their own personal computers on campus will be required to install ClearPass OnGuard before being able to connect to the campus network.
Below are the instructions to install ClearPass on your windows or MAC computer. In addition to ClearPass, Crowdstrike Falcon (students) or one of our preferred free antivirus options (Faculty and Staff personal computers) needs to be installed on your computer.
Install ClearPass OnGuard on macOS
- Log into Box with your NetID and password.
- Click on on the three dots towards the upper-right and select Download.
- This will download a zip file called ClearPass Onguard for Mac OS X.zip. Double click the zip file to unzip it.
- A folder will be created called ClearPass Onguard for Mac OS X. Open that folder and launch ClearPassOnGuardInstall.dmg.
- In the Finder Sidebar on the left, select ClearPassOnGuard under the Locations section. Alternatively, you can find the ClearPassOnGuard icon on your desktop and open it from there.
- Double click ClearPassOnGuard.pkg to open the installation package.
- Click Allow to begin the installation, then follow the steps to complete the ClearPass installation.
- Once the installation is complete, click Close.
- The ClearPass OnGuard window will then appear showing that it is collecting the health information about your machine (updates and antivirus).
- When the health check is complete, if your system is "healthy" you will see a message like the window below. You should now be able to connect to the internet while on the Wi-Fi network urwin. If your system returns an "unhealthy" status, it will tell you what you need to do to pass the health check.
