Description
CrowdStrike Falcon is the University provided antivirus and required to be installed on all student computers in order to connect to the University network. Please make sure to uninstall any current antivirus that you may have running on your computer to prevent installation issues and system performance problems prior to installing CrowdStrike Falcon.
CrowdStrike Falcon is a next-generation anti-virus product that uses a combination of artificial intelligence, behavioral detection, machine learning algorithms, and exploit mitigation, to protect against known and unknown threats. This means that CrowdStrike Falcon will protect you against many of the newest kinds of attacks, such as ransomware and unauthorized remote access. Another benefit of CrowdStrike Falcon is that it is lightweight and only consumes 1% or less of CPU.

Installation Instructions
Students are required to have Crowdstrike Falcon installed on their personal computers to be able to connect to the urwin wireless network. If you are a faculty or staff member, Falcon will not be available for you to download on the software download page.
Prerequisites:
- You must have administrator rights of the machine to install the Falcon agent
- ClearPass must be installed on your machine to connect on campus. More information can be found here.
Install CrowdStrike Falcon on macOS (Students)
macOS Ventura or newer is required. To check what version of macOS you have installed, click on the Apple icon on your Mac and choose About This Mac. The version of macOS will be listed in the pop up window that appears. If you have an older version of macOS installed, you will need to upgrade your Mac first in order to install Falcon. If you need assistance upgrading, please contact the Help Desk.
- Navigate to Box and login with your NetID and password.

Hover over the CSFalcon .pkg file, then click the three dots that appear. Click Download in the pop-up menu to begin downloading the installer.

Once the installer has downloaded, double-click on the CSFalcon .pkg file from the Downloads menu to launch the installer.

Click Continue to proceed through each step of the installation.

When prompted, enter your username and password for your Mac, then click Install Software.

This will begin the CrowdStrike installation.

When prompted for the for the Network Content Filter, click Allow.

macOS should display a new security extension notification. If not, the CrowdStrike installer will also display an extension message.

Leave the system extension notification/message window open. Click the Apple menu in the upper-left corner and select System Settings.

Select Security & Privacy from the column on the left.
Scroll down to

In System Settings, select General in the column on the left, then click Login Items & Extensions on the right.

On the right, scroll down to the Extensions section. Click the 'i' beside Endpoint Security Extensions

In the Endpoint Security Extensions window, toggle the slider beside Falcon on.

Enter your username and password for your Mac when prompted.

Confirm the Falcon security extension is enabled, then click Done. Leave the System Settings window open.

Return to the CrowdStrike installation window and click Okay to close the extension prompts.

Once the CrowdStrike installation has finished, click Close.

Return to the System Settings window and select Privacy & Security in the column on the left. Click Full Disk Access on the right.

Toggle the slider beside Falcon Sensor on.

Enter your username and password for your Mac when prompted.

- Verify Full Disk Access is enabled for the Falcon Sensor. Quit System Settings.

- CrowdStrike Falcon is now installed and will automatically update and protect your Mac. To confirm it is installed, you can open your Applications folder on your Mac and search for the Falcon app
