Apple Mail Configuration for Students, Alumni, and Retirees


Instructions for how to access your Richmond Gmail account using Apple Mail on a Mac.

Details / Instructions

  1. Open System Preferences and select Internet Accounts
  2. Click on the "+" to add a new accounts, and select Google as the account type. 
  3. You will be prompted to complete authentication in your web browser. Click to open the browser.
  4. When the browser window opens, enter your address.  Click Next.
  5. Enter your NetID and password at the University sign in screen and click Login.
  6. When prompted to give your Mac access to your account, click Allow.
  7. Select the apps that you want to use with your account and click Done
  8. When you launch the Mail app, your email will start to sync.
