What is CrowdStrike Falcon?
CrowdStrike Falcon is a next generation anti-virus that will protect against the rapidly changing tactics, techniques, and procedures used by adversaries to breach organizations. It contains signature-based and behavior-based protection for your computer that will protect you against many of the newest kinds of attacks, such as ransomware and unauthorized remote access.
What are the advantages of CrowdStrike Falcon?
Cyber criminals today are deploying more sophisticated attacks to breach organizations. CrowdStrike Falcon unifies next-generation antivirus (NGAV), endpoint detection and response (EDR), cyber threat intelligence, managed threat hunting capabilities and security hygiene, which will better protect the data for the university, staff, faculty, and students.
How do I get CrowdStrike Falcon installed on my UR laptop/desktop?
CrowdStrike Falcon will be automatically be installed on your UR machine in the background in a multiple-phased approach. Any new machine you receive from Information Services will already have CrowdStrike Falcon installed on it. This is not available for personal computers for Faulty and Staff.
Will CrowdStrike Falcon slow down my machine?
No, CrowdStrike Falcon is a very lightweight sensor that consumes less than 1% of CPU resources.
Is CrowdStrike Falcon available for students?
CrowdStrike Falcon is available for active students only. The download can be obtained from the UR Software Download page. Information on installing CrowdStrike Falcon can be found on the below Knowledge Base articles.
