WebFiles - How to Access and Bookmark the Drive on Linux

WebFiles storage space can be accessed through the Files App in Linux, and the folder for the network drive can be bookmarked for easy access.

Details / Instructions

If you are off campus, you must first connect the VPN in order to access webfiles. In addition, while these instructions work for Ubuntu 15.0, they should be applicable to other modern versions of Linux.
  1. Open the Files app and click on Files in the menu bar. Choose Connect to Server.
  2. Type smb://urfiles/webusers and press Connect.
  3. At the login prompt, enter your NetID and Password in the respective fields, and enter Richmond in the domain field. Choose which option you prefer for storing the password and press Connect.
  4. You will now have access to Webfiles. Simply browse to the specific folder you want. For example, for your personal Webfiles you would navigate to a > ab1cd (assuming ab1cd was your NetID).
  5. To mount the drive to your computer, you will want to Bookmark the location. To do this, right click with your mouse on the Webfiles location under Network. Click Add Bookmark.
  6. Once the location is bookmarked, it will show up under bookmarks.
