How to Access Webfiles

Overview

The instructions below will walk you through how to easily access and save the WebFiles location to your computer.

If you are off campus, you must first connect the VPN in order to access WebFiles.

Open File Explorer.
Type \\urfiles\webusers in address bar and press Enter.
At the Windows Security popup, enter in your NetID and password and click OK. (Entering Richmond\ before your NetID is necessary if are not using a University computer.)
You should now be connected to webfiles. Simply browse to the specific folder you want. For example, for your personal webfiles, you would want to navigate to a > ab1cd (assuming ab1cd was your NetID).

Open File Explorer and click Map Network Drive in toolbar.
Setup the folder you want to map by entering the full address (substitute the path shown below for the path you are wanting to map) and check both boxes as shown below. Click Finish.
- Note: If you are using a University of Richmond computer, you do not need to check the Connect using different credentials option.
At the Windows Security popup, enter in your NetID and password and click OK (Entering Richmond\before your NetID is unnecessary if your computer is a University of Richmond Machine).
Your folder should now be mounted as a network drive.

Access and Mount the Drive on macOSShow

Open Finder and click on Go in the Menu Bar. Choose Connect to Server....
Type smb://urfiles/webusers in the server address field. Optionally, you can click the plus (+) button to add the address to your list of favorite servers. Press Connect.
To logon to Webfiles, enter your NetID and password. Note: When accessing Webfiles from your personal machine you will need to enter either RICHMOND\yourNetID or yourNetID@richmond.edu for the username. Check Remember this password in my keychain and press Connect.
You should now be connected to Webfiles. Simply browse to the specific folder you want. For example, for your personal Webfiles you would navigate to a > ab1cd, assuming ab1cd was your NetID.
To permanently mount a specific folder to your computer, drag the folder down to the right side of your dock.
When you reboot your computer, you may see a question mark in your dock where the mounted folder used to sit. Simply click on the question mark icon once to mount the drive, and then click again to load the folder.

While these instructions work for Ubuntu 15.0, they should be applicable to other modern versions of Linux.

Open the Files app and click on Files in the menu bar. Choose Connect to Server.
Type smb://urfiles/webusers and press Connect.
At the login prompt, enter your NetID and Password in the respective fields, and enter Richmond in the domain field. Choose which option you prefer for storing the password and press Connect.
You will now have access to Webfiles. Simply browse to the specific folder you want. For example, for your personal Webfiles you would navigate to a > ab1cd (assuming ab1cd was your NetID).
To mount the drive to your computer, you will want to Bookmark the location. To do this, right click with your mouse on the Webfiles location under Network. Click Add Bookmark.
Once the location is bookmarked, it will show up under bookmarks.
