Set a Default Program in Windows 10

Overview

Defaults programs can be changed when you want to set a different program to open by default when opening certain file types. These instructions can be followed to set other programs to be the Default for specific file types in Windows10. 

Details / Instructions

  1. Click on the Start Button (Windows Logo) at the bottom left. 
  2. Select Settings.

     
  3. Click on System.

     
  4. Click on Default Apps.

    Set Default Web Browser
    To change the default web browser, click on Web Browser.


    Select your preferred browser. 


    Set Default PDF Program
    To select a default program by App, such as for PDF programs, click on Set Defaults by App.​​​​​​​


    Select your preferred program from the list of programs. Click on Set this program as default. ​​​​​​​
