Connect to the VPN with a Duo App Code


Duo is required for users to be able to connect to the University's VPN.

The instructions below can be used to connect to the VPN using a code from the Duo app on your smartphone or tablet. If you don't have cellular or wifi service on your smartphone or tablet to be able to receive the push notification from Duo, you can still connect to the VPN using the code from the Duo app.

Details / Instructions

  1. Launch the Cisco Anyconnect VPN Client and connect to
  2. Enter your NetID and network password in the appropriate fields. 
  3. When prompted that 'Authentication with Duo is required', click on Enter a Passcode
  4. Launch the Duo App on your phone or tablet and tap on the 'University of Richmond' item until it displays a 6 digit code. Enter the code in the field, as shown below, and then click Log In
  5. The VPN client on your computer will prompt you with a policies banner. Click Accept and you will be logged in to the VPN.
