Support Status

macOS Tahoe is currently supported on University and student Macs. Support for macOS Tahoe is expected last until the end of 2028.

Installation

macOS is installed on all Classroom and Lab Mac computers on campus as part of the Standard Classroom and Computer Lab Software. macOS is also installed as part of the University's Standard Software on all Faculty and Staff Mac computers.

You can upgrade to macOS Tahoe via Software Update in System Preferences or General > Software Update in System Settings. System Preferences/System Settings can be found under the Apple Menu or in the Applications folder on your Mac.

While macOS Tahoe is supported for both University and student Macs, we suggest caution when upgrading to a new OS. Prior to upgrading, we recommend that you have a backup that you can restore your computer to if the upgrade fails. In addition, you should allow at least 45-60 minutes for the upgrade to complete, and do not restart the computer while the upgrade is installing, even if it appears to be frozen.
