If you are experiencing data loss, we recommend you do not turn off your computer and immediately call the Help Desk at 804-287-6400.
If you are experience a loud clicking noise, blue screen or constant beach ball prompt, we recommend you turn off your computer and then call the Help Desk at 804-287-6400.
If it is determined the hard drive is failing and data loss is imminent, the Computer Help Desk has two options to assist you:
- We can attach your hard drive to a drive duplicator and attempt to recover your data.
- We can connect you with a third party vendor to recover your hard drive. The vendor will look at your hard drive for free to determine if data recovery is possible. Once they determine data recovery is possible, you will need to work with the vendor to handle any charges that may apply to their service.
To avoid data loss we recommend making regular data backups.
