Requesting Classroom/Lab Software

Once you submit your request, you will be notified by an Academic Computing Services (ACS) member. Further correspondence may be necessary.

Standard software currently installed in classrooms and labs can be found here.

During the summer, classrooms and lab computers have the operating system reinstalled; this process erases previous software installations. Therefore, software requests (including software upgrades) must be renewed annually.

Software needed by the Fall should be submitted July 1st 2021.

Specialty software is tested to ensure it functions on a system level as expected. Launching software and printing are primary functions tested. If more testing is required, submit specific instructions in the software request form. ACS can assist with technical questions that may arise. Faculty and staff are encouraged to test software and provide feedback before the semester starts.

All users of the University of Richmond network are expected to be familiar with the Responsible Use Computing policy.

Information Services maintains the following software policy:

  • Software must be properly licensed, have the proper number of licenses and type of license (e.g., research vs classroom)
  • No unsupported versions
  • No “free” software will in installed unless the End User License Agreement (EULA) allows for enterprise deployment
  • IS reserves the right to decline any software requests that generates:
    • Conflicts with approved software
    • Network or security concerns
    • Potential for illegal/illicit activities

Faculty and staff can submit their request via the Classroom/Public Lab Software Request Form. All software and operating systems can be included on one form.

After submitting the form, you will be contacted to discuss the request and clarify any details.
