This guide provides managers with detailed instructions for reviewing, approving, or denying staff absence or time-off requests in Workday.

Review Absence Request
Once an employee has submitted their absence request, you will receive an item in your Workday inbox.
- On the Workday homepage, select the inbox icon in the upper right corner.
- Locate then click the item Absence Request followed by an employee name, e.g., Absence Request: Daphne Blake.
- Review the employee’s request.
- If needed, click View Balances to view the employee’s absence balances.
- Select one of the following:
- Approve – To approve the Absence Request, or
- Send Back > Reason > Submit – To send the Absence Request back to the employee’s Workday inbox with feedback requesting adjustments or clarifications
- Deny > Reason – To deny the leave request with feedback
- Cancel – To discard any entries made to this page
View Your Team's Time Off
- On the homepage, select the navigation Menu at the top left corner of the toolbar.
- Select Time and Absence.
- Select Team Absence Calendar tab and click OK.
- NOTE: The organization will autofill.
- NOTE: To view a single employee, search for them in the Workers search bar or click the menu icon.


- All employees will populate.
- NOTE: You can navigate through a calendar using the left arrow and right arrow.
