Help Desk Support for Personal Computers

Overview

This is information pertaining to support for Faculty, Staff, Retire and Student personal computers.

Details / Instructions

The Primary function of the University of Richmond Computer Help Desk is to support all University-owned computers, Graduate and Undergraduate student personal computers.

A secondary function of the University of Richmond Computer Help Desk is to promote the ability to have a consistent positive computer experience when conducting business or educational needs on Faculty or Staff Personal computers. As our time allows we can assist you with your person computer including diagnostics, warranty and non warranty assistance.

We will also advise Faculty and Staff on purchasing hardware for personal use, questions about replacing parts(where and how much you should expect to pay), and when a computer has exceeded its useful life. We will also attempt data recovery if needed and work with you if you need to use an outside vendor for data recovery.  Osher students (Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes) have limited access to UR resources as permitted by the Osher program.

This service does not include:
Working on family members or friends computers
Gaming consoles
Home network support
Support for Apps or software not associated with the mission of the University of Richmond
Email accounts not connected to the University of Richmond

IMPORTANT SUPPORT NOTE:
During Mid August to Early September the Help Desk suspends support for personal computers as we need to assist returning students and new students getting their systems on the secure network.
