Getting Started

All users who wish to access the network must have an active University network account (NetID and password). ClearPass and Crowdstrike Falcon are required on University managed computers and student computers that connect to the network on campus. Instructions for how to connect devices to the network can be found in our Getting Connected on Campus article.

If you need help with getting your computer or devices configured to be able to connect to the network, you can submit Request Assistance ticket to the Help Desk.

Issues and Questions

Individuals who are having issues connecting to the network on campus can use the Report a Problem button for support. When reporting a problem with the network, you will be asked to provide the following information to help troubleshoot:

  • Network Name
  • Location of where the issue occurred
  • Device(s) having the issue
  • MAC address for device(s)
  • Date/Time of issue
  • Description of the issue

Data Connections

New data jacks/connections can be requested when needed for additional computers or multifunction devices in labs, offices, and classrooms. Requests can also be made to relocate where data jacks are located. If you would like to request a new, or relocation of an existing data connection, please submit the Request Data Connection form.

Restricted Network Access

University assets that do not meet UR's minimum network security requirements may be connected to the Restricted Network. The Restricted Network is comprised of devices that would normally pose a vulnerability to other users, data, and applications. The Restricted Network allows aging technology to continue to run on a short-term basis, until it is upgraded or replaced, by restricting the ability of devices to connect to services on the Campus Network.

If you have a computer that needs to be placed in the Restricted Network, please submit the Restricted Network Access Request form
