Body
Overview
A Solstice Pod is a device that enables wireless presentation in classrooms and meeting spaces. It allows users connected to an available wireless network (such as urwin, Richmond, eduroam, or VisitUR) to mirror their device’s primary display to an installed monitor or projection system — no cables required.
All University classrooms and meeting spaces with installed media systems are equipped with Solstice Pods, and Information Services continues to deploy them as part of capital renovation projects and classroom audiovisual upgrades.
Solstice Pods supports a wide range of devices, including personal computers (Mac or PC), mobile devices, and tablets (iOS and Android).
Details / Instructions
Most classrooms and meeting spaces are also equipped with an AMX control system “touch panel.” Select “wireless presentation” on the touch panel to view the Solstice Pod information. If no touch panel controls are present, you may need to use a standard remote control to turn on the display in the room and view the Solstice Pod splash screen. Here, the connection instructions, including the IP address and code, will appear on the screen.
To connect to a Solstice Pod, open Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge and enter the IP address displayed on the room’s screen in the browser's address bar. Each pod has a unique IP address and on-screen connection code required to begin sharing content.
While the Solstice app can be used and is available for download, it can introduce syncing issues when sharing PDFs and PowerPoint presentations. Mersive recommends connecting via browser to avoid these issues.
