SpiderSecure Students

Overview - What is SpiderSecure?

You may have noticed digital signs, emails, or SpiderBytes featuring the "SpiderSecure" logo, encouraging the UR community to "Stay SpiderSecure". At UR, whether on or off campus, protecting your devices and the network is everyone's responsibility. With technology evolving rapidly, it's crucial to understand cybersecurity risks and how to protect your devices and online accounts. Whether you connect to the UR network from home, campus, or abroad, staying SpiderSecure by following cybersecurity best practices is essential.

Being SpiderSecure

The Information Security department offers SpiderSecure training and educational resources year-round to support the cybersecurity needs of faculty, staff, and students.

Starting in fall 2026, students will receive a cybersecurity training and education account. Courses will be tailored to their graduating class year and cover relevant topics like AI risks, digital privacy, travel security, and more.

Being SpiderSecure means more than just completing training. It involves actively using resources to keep your technology and devices safe. Throughout the academic year, you can access cybersecurity resources at both in-person and online events such as:

  • UR Prep Fest
  • October Cybersecurity Awareness Month
    • Cybersecurity Awareness Fair
  • SpiderSecure Challenges
    • SpiderSecure Scavenger Hunt
    • SpiderSecure QR Quest
    • Capture the Flag Events
  • Classroom Visits (arranged by faculty)
