Support Status
macOS Sonoma is currently supported on University and student Macs. Support is expected to last until the end of 2026.
Installation
You can upgrade to macOS Sonoma via Software Update in System Preferences or General > Software Update in System Settings. System Preferences/System Settings can be found under the Apple Menu or in the Applications folder on your Mac. Alternatively, you can upgrade via the Mac App Store.
While macOS Sonoma is supported for both University and student Macs, we suggest caution when upgrading to a new OS. Prior to upgrading, we recommend that you have a backup that you can restore your computer to if the upgrade fails. In addition, you should allow at least 45-60 minutes for the upgrade to complete, and do not restart the computer while the upgrade is installing, even if it appears to be frozen.
