Overview

Passcodes are an alternate way to authenticate with Duo. These six-digit passcodes can be generated from the Duo mobile app, or by a hardware token if you do not have access to a smart device. Internet or cellular access is not required when using passcodes. Instructions on enrolling a hardware token or the mobile app can be found here.

Authenticating with a Hardware TokenShow

If a hardware token is your primary factor for authenticating with Duo, you will be asked for a six digit passcode upon entering your primary credentials. Press the green button on your hardware token to generate a new passcode, type it into the passcode field, and click Verify.

Authenticating with a Mobile App Passcode Show

Once signed in to the application with your credentials, you will be prompt by Duo to approve your second factor via a push to your smart device. Select Other options.

Select the option for Duo Mobile passcode.

To authenticate, launch the Duo Mobile app on your device and enter the six digit code shown into the field shown.
