Overview
Apple releases bug fixes, vulnerability patches, feature improvements and even OS upgrades for macOS and its apps via Software Update. Although your Mac automatically checks for new updates once a week, prompting you if there are new updates available, you can manually check to see if there are any available macOS updates or upgrades.
Instructions
- Launch System Settings from either the Apple Menu (Apple icon in the upper-left corner of your screen) or from your Applications folder

- If an update is available a notification and badge will appear on the left side of the System Settings window. Click on either the "Software Update Available" notification or click General > Software Update

- If there are any available macOS updates, they will be displayed here. Click the Update Now or Restart Now button to install available updates
