Overview

Windows 11 Version 26H2 Upgrade is now available for University-Owned computers through Windows Update. Please use the instructions below to install this important upgrade.

Details / Instructions

1. Use the Windows Search Toolbar to find and open "winver". 

2. Identify the Windows 11 Version in the Windows Version application. 
Important: If you see "Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.####)" in this window you must complete the following steps by the end of 2026 or your system may be quarantined and unable to access the University network. 

3. Use the Windows Search Toolbar, type in "Windows Update". 

4. Select "Check for Updates". 

5. Select "Advanced options".

6. Toggle "Receive updates for other Microsoft products" to "On" if it is Off. 

7. Select the back button at the top left to return to the Windows Update screen. 

8. Click the dropdown arrow next to "Check for Updates" and select "Check online for updates from Microsoft Update". Windows will download and install any updates that are needed. 

Note: Some systems may update to Version 25H2 instead of 26H2. Repeat steps 3, 4, and 8 until Version 26H2 is installed.  Steps 5, 6 and 7 are only necessary one time.
