Sync Network Password in macOS (University Macs)

Summary

Instructions for updating or syncing your Mac password with your network password on campus Macs

Body

Overview

If you are having difficulty logging into a university Mac see: Assistance Logging into Campus Macs

When you change your network password in the Identity Management Portal your new network password is not immediately synced with your university Mac. The Self Service+ application installed on all faculty and staff Macs automatically checks once an hour to ensure your Mac password and network password are in sync, notifying and prompting you to sign in and sync your passwords if they are not.

Self Service+ also includes the ability to manually check if your Mac password and network password are in sync.

Manually Sync Passwords

Although you are not required to be connected to the campus network or campus VPN, an active internet connection is required to sync your Mac and network passwords.

  1. Click on the Self Service+ icon (UR shield logo) in the macOS menu bar and click Sync Password.
