Overview
When you change your network password in the Identity Management Portal your new network password is not immediately synced with your university Mac. The Self Service+ application installed on all faculty and staff Macs automatically checks once an hour to ensure your Mac password and network password are in sync, notifying and prompting you to sign in and sync your passwords if they are not.

Self Service+ also includes the ability to manually check if your Mac password and network password are in sync.
Manually Sync Passwords
Although you are not required to be connected to the campus network or campus VPN, an active internet connection is required to sync your Mac and network passwords.
- Click on the Self Service+ icon (UR shield logo) in the macOS menu bar and click Sync Password.

- In the sign in window that appears, enter your UR e-mail address and new network password, then click Sign In.

- A pop-up will appear stating your passwords do not match. Enter your previous network password in the Local Password field, then click Sync.

- When the sign in window disappears the process is complete. Self Service+ has successfully updated the password on your Mac to match your new network password.
- *Optional* To verify your Mac and network password have successfully synced:
- Click the Self Service+ icon in the macOS menu bar and click Launch Self Service+.
- Sign in with your NetID and network password.

- The center of the Home tab lists the sync status of your password.
