Overview
This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to create a job requisition, which begins the recruitment process.

NOTE: Data is not required unless it has a red asterisk*
- In the Workday homepage search bar, type in Create Job Requisition and then select the Create Job Requisition task.
- If you have a similar requisition that has already been created, you can Copy Details from Existing Requisition by selecting it from the menu using My Job Requisitions.
- The Supervisory Organization field defaults to your own organization. If you are responsible for multiple organizations, you can select a different organization than the default, if needed.
- Select the radio button to choose a single Existing Position or Multiple Existing Positions. (For this example, For Existing Position is selected.)
- Select a Position. Positions for your workers in the supervisory organization are listed. Choose the position you need to fill from the list.
- Worker Type is pre-populated based on the position (e.g., employee, contingent worker).
- Select OK.
- After clicking OK, the information from the position will automatically populate into the requisition template. Confirm the data is correct and enter the additional information requested. To modify, click the pencil icon in the corresponding section.
- Under the Recruitment Information tab in the Recruiting Details box:
- Select a Reason. (For this example, Recruitment Required for a Replacement is selected.
- Note: For most requisitions, you will select ‘Recruiting Required’. Approval is required for ‘Direct Hire.’ If the position is grant-funded, select ‘Grant Funded.’ For Faculty positions, select ‘Search Committees’.
- Select a Recruiting Instruction to indicate where to post the position (e.g., internally, externally, etc.).
- Recruiting Start Date defaults to today’s date. Update the date for when you want recruiting to begin as necessary.
- Select a Target Hire Date indicating when you would like someone to start in the position.
- OPTIONAL: Enter a Target End Date to specify when recruitment will end, and the requisition will close.
- Click Next.
- Verify the information under the Job tab.
- NOTE: If changes need to be made to the compensation grade or the job description for the requisition, contact your Compensation Partner before submitting the job requisition.
- NOTE: If the Job Description Summary is empty, attach the summary in the ‘Attachments’ tab.

- Scroll down to Link to Evergreen Requisition section, click the pencil icon to modify or link evergreen requisition. NOTE: Only link to Evergreen if instructed by a Talent Acquisition Specialist.
- Click Next.
- Verify the information under the Organizations tab.
- If needed, click Add to attach a document for the recruiter to reference.

- Click Attach and choose documents from your device. To save, click the check icon.

- NOTE: To undo, click the back arrow icon, and to delete the attachment, click the trash bin icon.
- Click Next.
- Click Add under the Assign Role tab to assign individuals to a search committee.

- In the Role field, select:
- Candidate Reviewer: Select this role if others, in addition to the manager, will review applications. This role is view only, and the Candidate Reviewer will not have access to move candidates through the recruitment process.
- Primary Hiring Manager: Select this role if someone else will be responsible for hiring. This role will enable candidates to progress through the recruitment process. Only one person may be designated as the PHM.
- Primary Recruiter: Select this role only for student employment.
- Select Assign To to assign the role to the individual(s). Add all individuals before clicking the checkmark icon to save.

- NOTE: To undo, click the back arrow icon
- Click Next.
- Review the summary, ensuring the information that has been populated is correct.
Changes can be made by clicking on the pencil button within each section.
- In the comments box at the end of the job requisition template, enter the required work schedule for the position.
- Click on Submit.


- NOTE: The job requisition is routed to the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Provost, and the Chief Operating Officer for review and approval. Once approved, it will be sent to the Talent Acquisition Specialist assigned to your organization, who will reach out for a follow-up meeting. You will also receive a notification in Workday with a status update.
