Antivirus for personal computers

Personal computers that are owned and/or used by faculty and staff that connect to the University of Richmond network must have the recommended standard anti-virus software installed.

There are many endpoint protection applications available for purchase or free. However, the below solutions will be required if you bring your personal machine on campus and need to connect to the University's network.

Windows

• Microsoft Defender (Free solution that comes pre-installed with Microsoft Windows 10 and 11)

Mac

• Sophos Home for Macs (Free 30-day trial)
