Make Blackboard Course Available to Students

Overview

All academic courses are created automatically in Blackboard when they are added in Banner by the Registrar. By default courses are set as "unavailable to students", which means only instructors can see the course contents. Instructors can make their courses available when they are ready to make their site's content public to enrolled students.

Details / Instructions

There are three methods for making your course available to students:

Method 1 - Use the Qwickly module on your UR Blackboard homepage

  • Expand the Qwickly module panel on your UR Blackboard homepage
  • Expand the Course Availability section
  • Turn on any course you want to be available to students

Method 2 - Toggle lock icon within a course

  • Open the course you would like to make available
  • Toggle the lock icon in the top-right of a course page

Method 3 - Edit the course properties

  • Open the course you would like to make available
  • On the left panel, navigate to the Course Management section
  • Expand Control Panel
  • Expand Customization
  • Select Properties
  • In the Set Availability section, select Yes
  • Select Submit
