Overview

Box has a variety of Apps and Plug-ins available to make working with Box more efficient. Below are the apps and plug-ins that are approved for use with your University Box account. 

If you have a Box App that you would like to be approved for use, please submit the Box App Request form

The Box app will be reviewed by our App Vetting Group. Once the app is reviewed, you will be contacted regarding your request.

Official Box Apps

  • Box Drive: application that allows you to access all your files in Box from your computer without needing to download or sync those files first.
  • Box Sync: application that allows you to automatically sync files and folders between your Box account and your desktop. While this app is available, the University does not recommend using it for accessing Box files directly from your computer. Instead, we recommend using Box Drive to be able to access your Box files from your computer.
  • Box Edit: add-on feature for Box account that allows you to edit or create files directly on Box.
  • Box for Office: Windows desktop app lets you easily open, edit, save and share any file from Box seamlessly within Word, PowerPoint and Excel - as well as streamline your workflow within Outlook by using shared links to files in Box instead of attachments.
  • Box for Office iOS: allows Box users to edit their Office files with Office mobile clients on the go. Now users can edit their Box files anywhere starting from either Box or Office!
  • Box for Office Android: allows Box users to edit their Office files with Office mobile clients on the go. Now users can edit their Box files anywhere starting from either Box or Office!
  • Box Capture: app that can be used to instantly take a picture, video, or document scan and upload it right in to Box. This app is only available for iOS devices and can be downloaded from the App Store
  • Box Notes: a desktop app for Macs and PCs that lets you  take notes, share ideas, and collaborate in real-time.
  • Box for iOS Devices
  • Box for Android: *To access files offline on an Android device, you must first encrypt your device. 

Additional Apps* Approved for UR use in Box: 

*The University of Richmond Help Desk support for these apps is limited to making sure access from Box to the App is available. All other support must be with the App developers.
